Description
Antonivka wheat is a high-yielding winter wheat variety developed by the Selection-Genetic Institute of the National Center for Seed Production and Variety Selection in Odesa. This variety is intended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine and is characterized by high winter hardiness, resistance to low temperatures and drought. Antonivka is a medium-height variety with strong tillering, strong ears and large, well-filled grains, ensuring high yields ranging from 4.86 to 8.75 tons per hectare.
This variety exhibits high resistance to various phytopathogens, including brown and stem rust, septoria, and root rots, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss. Antonivka shows a positive response to diverse agro-technologies, allowing high yield performance both under intensive and low input conditions. The optimal sowing period falls between September 15 and October 10, and seed treatment with fungicides, insecticides, and growth stimulators is recommended prior to sowing to improve germination and protect against diseases.
The grain of this variety has high quality: protein content ranges from 12.5% to 13.8%, and thousand-grain weight ranges from 36.2 to 44.4 grams. The maturation period is approximately 280-285 days, allowing effective planning of agronomic activities. Seeds are packaged in 1-ton big-bags or 50 kg bags, which is convenient for storage and transportation. Due to its characteristics, Antonivka wheat is a reliable choice for grain production and ensures stable, high yields in Ukrainian forest-steppe and steppe regions.
