Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of the NAAS, 'Kharkivska 39' is a spring durum wheat variety engineered for high adaptability and consistent yield. Its physiological design focuses on optimizing grain filling within a concise 80–90 day vegetation period.

Morphological and Growth Characteristics

The plants reach a height of 90–100 cm. The awned spikes are an essential trait for uniform grain development. With a moderate resistance to lodging, the variety performs best when managed for an optimal stand density of 4.5–5.0 million productive stems per hectare.

Yield and Quality Standards

• Productivity: The potential yield reaches 4–5 tons per hectare, supported by a thousand-kernel weight (TKW) of 35–40 grams.
• Grain Quality: The gluten content exceeds 30%, meeting the high-quality requirements for the pasta industry and ensuring high commercial value.

Phytosanitary Protection

The variety demonstrates genetic resistance to brown rust. To safeguard yield potential, a robust fungicide program is required to manage complex smut diseases (loose smut, covered smut, onion stem smut). Furthermore, protective measures against pests, such as frit flies and other cereal flies, are recommended during the early growth stages to prevent crop loss and ensure the stability of the harvest.
