«Burhunka» is a short-straw variety (80–90 cm tall), which provides excellent lodging resistance. The vegetation period is 90–100 days, with a thousand-kernel weight (TKW) ranging from 40–45 grams. An optimal density of 4.0–4.5 million productive stems per hectare allows the crop to utilize the available space and nutrients effectively.

«Burhunka» is not necessarily a universal solution for extreme dry-land farming without irrigation, as its winter hardiness rating of 7 out of 9 indicates that sound agronomic practices are essential.
