When planning a sowing campaign, we are less interested in catalogue numbers and more concerned with how a variety performs under field stress. The «Dmitry» soft winter wheat variety, developed by the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center, is a choice for those prioritizing predictability. While it demands precise adherence to cultivation practices, it rewards the grower by being remarkably resilient to common pathogens.

Phytosanitary Control

The primary strength of «Dmitry» lies in its multi-layered resistance. In humid conditions where neighboring fields often succumb to powdery mildew or brown spot, this variety holds its ground. Practically, this means reduced reliance on heavy fungicide applications. Its genetic resistance to brown rust and yellow rust allows us to avoid emergency chemical sprays, significantly lowering the cost per ton of grain. It also performs well against fusarium and stem smut.

Field Performance and Stand Density

Targeting 4.5–5.0 million productive stems per hectare, the variety establishes a uniform, dense canopy. Lodging resistance is exceptionally high, which is a major advantage during mechanized harvesting. We spend less time troubleshooting harvesting issues; the combines move through the field smoothly, minimizing header losses.

Growth Cycle and Adaptability

With a vegetation period spanning 230 to 280 days, «Dmitry» serves as a flexible tool for various agro-climatic zones. The variety is robust and does not require "greenhouse" conditions, yet it responds well to intensive management. Working with «Dmitry» is essentially managing a reliable biological asset that consistently converts inputs into high-quality food-grade grain.
