Description
The spring soft wheat variety Dobrynia was created at the South-East Agriculture Research Institute and registered since 2000. It belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by a cylindrical white head of medium density with awn-like appendages at the top. The grain is elongated-ovate, red in color, with a long awn and a medium groove. The mass of 1000 seeds varies from 28 to 42 grams depending on weather conditions, while the grain purity is about 790 g/l. The leaves are green with a weak waxy coating and medium pubescence, while the culm is weakly expressed, which contributes to resistance to lodging.
Dobrynia is a medium-maturing variety with high productivity potential and resistance to a range of diseases, including leaf rust, powdery mildew, and viral infections, especially barley yellow dwarf virus. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and grain germination, ensuring stable crop quality. In terms of carotenoid content in flour, which gives a golden color, the variety is at the level of well-known strong varieties L503 and L505, making it attractive for the baking industry.
Recommended for cultivation in the right-bank zone of the Saratov region and other regions with similar climatic conditions. The average yield of the variety in the Saratov region is about 11 c/ha, and under favorable conditions can reach from 15 to 40 c/ha. The commercial value of the variety is due to the stable production of high-quality grain, which ensures an economic effect for agricultural producers. Due to the combination of high productivity, disease resistance, and excellent baking qualities, the Dobrynia variety is a competitive choice for cultivation in its adaptation zones.
