Levada

The Levada winter wheat variety is a selection combining the best traits of the Mironovskaya 808, Albatross Odessa, and Bulgarian Pliска varieties. This early-maturing variety ripens 3-5 days earlier than the standard Albatross Odessa, allowing for harvest within a shorter timeframe. Levada is characterized by high yield and disease resistance, making it popular among agricultural producers.

The plant exhibits enhanced tillering ability in spring, high resistance to lodging, significant winter hardiness, and drought tolerance. The variety belongs to the group with heightened photoperiod sensitivity and has an extended vernalization period, enabling sowing both in very early and late seasons. The plant is erect, 80-93 cm tall, with green leaves covered in a waxy coating. The ear is white, awned, cylindrical, medium density and size. The potential yield ranges from 58.2 to 100 centners per hectare. The Levada grain has high protein content (13.0-15.5 %) and gluten (up to 31.5 %), ensuring high flour quality and excellent baking properties, including flour strength of 477 W and loaf volume of 1110-1230 ml.

The Levada variety has been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2005 and belongs to the erythrospermum group. Its intensive cultivation type and stable performance make it a reliable choice for producing high-quality food grain. Information regarding forage wheat, used for animal feed, does not apply to the Levada variety and is not included in the description.
