MAYSKAYA ANNIVERSARY

Mayskaya Anniversary is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) belonging to the Eritrospermum type. It is characterized by a medium-early maturity period with a vegetation period of 272-296 days, maturing 1-2 days earlier than the standard Odessa 267. Plants are medium-height, 76-97 cm, with semi-erect culms and short stems. The head is cylindrical, 7-9 cm long, of medium density, white in color, with an awn of medium length located along the entire length of the head. The grain is ovoid, medium-sized, colored, with a shallow groove and medium-length beard. The wax bloom on the upper internode and sheath of the flag leaf is weak, and pubescence of the upper node is absent or very weak. The variety has good lodging and shattering resistance, rated at 8-9 points, as well as high resistance to root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, with scores of 7-8 points. The winter hardiness of the variety is average, and drought resistance is close to the Bezenchuk 380 variety. Under field conditions, septoria affects the variety weakly, similar to the standard Odessa 267. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 38 to 49 grams, indicating high grain quality. The variety has high yield: the average indicator in the region is 41.8 centners/hectare, in the Belgorod region the yield reached 51.3 centners/hectare, which is 5.1 centners/hectare higher than the standard, and the maximum yield in the Kursk region reached 76.1 centners/hectare. Mayskaya Anniversary is valued for its good baking qualities and yield stability. The variety is recommended for cultivation in regions with a moderate climate where high productivity and disease resistance are important. Its adaptive properties and grain quality make it in demand among winter wheat producers, ensuring a reliable and quality harvest.
