NIKOL 2

NIKOL 2 is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) intended for cultivation in regions with a moderate climate, specifically recommended for the Volgograd region. The variety is of medium maturity and is characterized by medium plant length with a height ranging from 73 to 88 cm. The ear is of pyramidal shape, white color, medium length and density, with long awns. The grain is colored; the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 37 to 43 grams. The plant has an intermediate bush type, the straw is weakly expressed, and there is no waxy bloom or it is very weak on the ear and the sheath of the flag leaf. NIKOL 2 is distinguished by good resistance to main diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, and root rots, which ensures crop stability. The winter hardiness of the variety is medium, frost resistance is low, however, drought resistance is above average. The variety demonstrates high yield – the average indicator in the region is 31.1 centners per hectare, which exceeds the average standard by 1.6 c/ha. The maximum yield achieved in the Volgograd region was 64.9 c/ha. The main application of the NIKOL 2 variety is related to the production of high-quality flour and bakery products, as baking qualities are at the level of filler. Thanks to adaptability to various climatic conditions and disease resistance, the variety is a profitable choice for grain crop production in recommended regions.
