RIKS

RIKS is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a medium-late maturity period, intended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Western Siberian region, Perm Krai, and the Kirov region. The plant is of medium height, with good resistance to lodging and medium drought resistance. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 33 to 46 grams, indicating a fairly large grain. The variety belongs to the lutescens type and demonstrates high plasticity, allowing successful adaptation to various climatic conditions.

RIKS is characterized by good baking qualities and medium yield, which depending on the region ranges from 25.5 to 27.4 centners per hectare. The vegetative period is from 68 to 85 days, making it medium-early in terms of maturity period. Despite high yield and grain quality indicators, the variety is moderately susceptible to diseases such as powdery and solid bunt, septoria, root rots, powdery mildew, and brown rust, which requires the application of appropriate agronomic measures to protect crops.

Grain quality studies of the RIKS variety show that it possesses high physical and physico-chemical indicators corresponding to the requirements of the second class of GOST 9353-2016. Although the gluten quality of this variety belongs to the second group, overall the variety demonstrates good indicators for protein content and grain vitreosity. This makes RIKS an attractive choice for agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality grain with good technological characteristics.
