Shakhovka

Shakhovka is winter soft wheat, released in 2020 for the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. Developed through individual selection from a population obtained by stepwise crossing of the varieties Shestopalkovka and Dolgushinskaya. The vegetation period is 270–275 days, ensuring early heading and ripening. The ear is large, medium-length, yellow, and non-shattering. Grain is large, with 1000-grain weight ranging from 45 to 60 grams. The variety is characterized by high yield stability, increased gluten content (32%) and protein (16%), making it attractive for the bakery industry.

Shakhovka exhibits high resistance to soil and air drought, as well as to lodging and root germination. This enables wheat cultivation under variable climate conditions and reduces yield losses. The recommended seeding rate is 3.5–4.5 million germinating seeds per hectare, promoting optimal plant development and high yield. The average yield in Ukraine reaches 86.7 centners per hectare, confirming its high productivity and adaptability.

Due to its characteristics, the variety Shakhovka is suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic conditions, particularly in steppe and forest-steppe zones. Its grain not only possesses high quality but also resistance to adverse factors, ensuring a stable and high yield. The variety is recommended for grain production where quality and reliability of yield are crucial.
