Description
Silvery is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium-late maturity with a vegetative period of 89-101 days. The plant is medium-height, about 94 cm tall, with a semi-upright tiller and weakly compacted straw. The ear is pyramidal, of medium density, white in color, with awn-like appendages of medium length at the tip. The grain is pigmented, with 1000-seed mass varying from 33 to 42 grams. The variety belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by good baking qualities, making it a valuable wheat for flour and bread production.
Silvery has good resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as increased drought resistance, which exceeds standard indicators by approximately 1 point. Under field conditions, the variety shows moderate susceptibility to glume blotch and powdery mildew, but is susceptible to brown rust. The waxy coating on the ear and upper internode of the straw is average, while on the flag leaf sheath it is strong, which may contribute to protecting the plant from adverse factors.
The average yield of the variety in the West Siberian region is about 29.8 centners/hectare, in the East Siberian region — 25.9 centners/hectare, which corresponds to average standards. The maximum registered yield reached 65.7 centners/hectare in the Omsk Region. It is recommended for cultivation in the South Forest-Steppe and Lowland Steppe of the Omsk Region and the Republic of Khakassia. The variety was bred by FGBOU «Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center» and is the result of complex hybrid origin, which ensures its adaptation to the conditions of the indicated regions.
