Description
Wheat variety Vanya is a mid-early variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a short stem, whose height ranges from 78 to 96 cm. This variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, which ensures crop safety and facilitates harvesting. The vegetative period varies from 219 to 287 days, allowing the variety to adapt to various climatic conditions. Vanya has good drought resistance and moderate frost resistance, making it a reliable choice for growing in regions with variable climates.
The yield of the Vanya variety is high and stable: average yield in the region reaches 56 c/ha, maximum — 89.1 c/ha, with a grain productivity potential of over 110 c/ha. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Prikhazovskaya and Southern zones of the Rostov region, and is adapted to the North Caucasus region of Russia. Due to the high milling and baking qualities of the grain, Vanya is widely used for the production of bakery products. In terms of gluten content, it exceeds the Vassa variety, which indicates its high quality and value for the baking industry.
The Vanya variety has resistance to a number of diseases, including brown, yellow, and stem rust, powdery mildew, and septoria. Such comprehensive resistance to diseases contributes to reduced crop losses and reduced need for the application of chemical plant protection agents. The authors of the variety — N.I. Lysak, L.A. Bespalova, and other specialists — transferred it to the State Variety Testing System in 2015, which confirms its scientific development and adaptation to modern agro-technical requirements.
