Description
Soft winter wheat of the VASSA variety is a medium-early and medium-tall semidwarf variety with a vegetative period ranging from 217 to 276 days. The plant height is approximately 81 cm, which contributes to high lodging resistance. This variety is distinguished by high drought and frost resistance, allowing for successful cultivation in the North Caucasus region. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 41 to 55 grams, indicating large grain size and high grain quality. The main purpose of the VASSA variety is to obtain food-grade grain for baking purposes. It has excellent baking qualities, making it in demand among flour and baked goods manufacturers. The yield potential of this variety exceeds 120 c/ha and can reach up to 130 c/ha under favorable conditions, characterizing it as a high-yielding variety suitable for cultivation with high and medium agro-conditions. The sowing rate is about 5 million seeds per hectare. The VASSA variety demonstrates high resistance to lodging and grain shattering, as well as good resistance to major wheat diseases. It is highly resistant to stem rust and powdery mildew, resistant to brown and yellow rust, and moderately resistant to septoria and viral diseases. However, the variety is susceptible to crown rot, which requires attention in agrotechnical measures. The patent holder of the variety is FGBNU "P.P. Lukyanenko FRI".
