Description
Voloshkova belongs to the lutescent variety of wheat, featuring a well-formed plant with strong stems up to one meter tall, resistant to lodging. The ear is medium-large, cylindrical, with a bristly tip covered by small bristles 1–2 cm long. The grain is elongated, red in color, turning dark brown when stained with phenol. The glumes of the ear are oval-shaped and tightly cover the grain, preventing shattering while not hindering water evaporation. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, rust, and leaf septoria.
Agronomic requirements include sowing between September 15 and October 5, with optimal sowing occurring between September 20 and 30. The seeding rate is 4.5–5.0 million viable seeds per hectare. Grain quality is characterized by a 1000-grain weight of 40.3–42.8 g, protein content of 13.9–14.3%, and crude gluten content of 29.4–31.4%. The development of the Voloshkova variety was made possible by changes in wheat development type under low-temperature conditions, ensuring high winter hardiness and adaptation to winter cultivation conditions.
