YU 4

YU 4 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium-early maturity with a vegetative period ranging from 77 to 89 days. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect bush and a spindle-shaped ear of medium density, white in color. The grain is elongated, pigmented, with a short awn; the weight of 1000 grains varies from 28 to 40 grams. The grain density is about 787 g/l, indicating high density and raw material quality. The variety belongs to the lutescens group and is characterized by strong resistance to lodging, rated at 4-5 points, as well as medium drought resistance.

YU 4 is characterized by high potential yield, which in various regions reaches from 26.3 to 46 centners per hectare. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Chelyabinsk and Omsk regions, the southern forest-steppe zone of the Kurgan region, and also shows good results in the Central region, Vladimir region, and Tatarstan. Despite its high productivity, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases, such as brown rust, powdery and hard smut, as well as ear septoria, which requires timely application of protective agro-technical measures.
