Description
Sofiyevskaya black currant variety is one of the best early-mid-season varieties widely grown in Ukraine. The bushes are medium-sized, semi-spreading, reaching a height of 100-150 cm, with thick, elastic, and vigorously growing young shoots. The variety is characterized by good self-fertility, ensuring full berry clusters and stable, steadily increasing yields over the years. Fruit ripening begins at the end of June to early July, making this variety early-ripening and convenient for harvest.
The berries of the Sofiyevskaya variety are large and medium-sized, weighing from 1.8 to 3.6 grams, black in color with a shiny surface. They have a pleasant sweet aroma and juicy flesh, making them attractive for fresh consumption as well as for transportation and processing. High transportability of the berries allows this variety to be used in commercial berry farms as well as in garden and backyard plots.
The variety is highly resistant to fungal diseases, bud mites, and leaf gall, and also exhibits good drought tolerance and low maintenance requirements. Thanks to these qualities, Sofiyevskaya black currant is suitable for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield in both amateur and commercial settings.
