TATSUNO SPRING CROSS

Daikon «Tatsuno Spring Cross» is an early-maturing variety that reaches technical maturity in just 60-65 days after germination. The root has a cylindrical shape, white flesh with light green shoulders, and a smooth surface; the mass of one root is usually around 800 grams. The leaves are dark green, short, slightly lobed, and the semi-erect rosette gives the plant a neat appearance.

The variety is distinguished by high yield – up to 4.5 kg of roots per square meter. Roots are uniform in size and resistant to bolting, even when sown in spring. Thanks to good resistance to diseases and low temperatures, «Tatsuno Spring Cross» is easy to grow both in open ground and at home, including winter plantings.

The taste of the root is tender, without a sharp aftertaste, which makes it popular for raw consumption – in salads, as well as for stewing and boiling. For successful growing, it is recommended to prepare light, fertile soil with a deep plow layer, dig it up, and apply mineral fertilizers. Sowing is usually carried out at the beginning of July; seeds are laid at a depth of 2-3 cm, the distance between plants is 15-25 cm. After several true leaves appear, plants are thinned out, removing weak seedlings. If necessary, you can protect against cabbage leaf miner by watering and treating with ash. Roots are harvested in dry weather and stored in boxes with sand for long-term storage.
