Description
Daicon «Mammoth Tusk» – a late-maturing variety with a growth period of 65 to 75 days. The leaf rosette is semi-erect, and the roots have an elongated-cylindrical shape, a white surface with a slightly rough texture, and a weight of 700 to 800 grams. The flesh is dense, juicy, sweet-spicy taste, which makes it popular both in fresh form and for pickling and marinating.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to bolting and heat resistance, as well as good shelf life – it is stored for 2–3 months when stored correctly. Yield reaches 8–10 kg/m², which makes it profitable for commercial cultivation. The recommended planting distance is 20 × 40 cm, and sowing dates are April and July, with ripening in June and September.
The biological value of the product is high: roots are rich in potassium and calcium salts, fiber, pectin substances, vitamin C, and enzymes. They help cleanse the body of toxins, have bactericidal properties, and are used as a remedy for liver diseases, gallbladder, colds, and for dissolving stones. Thanks to these characteristics, «Mammoth Tusk» is valued both among consumers and among healthy nutrition specialists.
