Reliable systemic weed control for Clearfield sunflower hybrids.
Description
Synergy of Imidazolinones in Torea
The Torea herbicide utilizes a robust combination of two active ingredients: imazamox (33 g/l) and imazapyr (15 g/l). Belonging to the imidazolinone chemical class, this formulation acts as a systemic inhibitor of the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme. By blocking the synthesis of essential amino acids, the herbicide triggers a rapid cessation of weed growth, making it highly effective against complex weed infestations.
Technical Efficiency for Sunflower Crops
Designed for herbicide-tolerant sunflower hybrids (Clearfield technology), Torea achieves selectivity through the crop's inherent metabolic ability to neutralize the active ingredients. Meanwhile, weeds such as common amaranth, ragweed, field thistle, and smartweed lack these detoxification mechanisms, leading to their complete elimination.
- Systemic Action: Upon foliar application, the herbicide moves rapidly through both the xylem and phloem. This systemic translocation is critical for reaching the roots of perennials, preventing regrowth.
- Soil Residual Effect: The presence of imazapyr provides a secondary barrier by creating a protective soil screen, which limits the emergence of subsequent weed flushes throughout the season.
- Application Flexibility: With a dosage range of 1.0 to 2.0 L/ha, growers can calibrate the treatment based on specific field weed pressure.
Torea is applied as a post-emergence herbicide, ideally between the 2nd and 8th leaf stages of the sunflower. Given the restriction to a single application per season, it serves as a highly precise management tool. By eliminating weed competition early, the crop is able to maximize resource utilization for water and nutrient uptake, which is essential for maintaining yield potential.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |

Herbicides are classified according to application timing into pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides. Pre-emergent herbicides are mostly soil-applied or granular formulations applied before the emergence of crop plants. They are applied either pre-sowing (during pre-sowing cu... |
