A powerful synergy of two active ingredients for the control of the most stubborn weeds in sunflower fields.
Description
Mechanism of Action and Synergistic Components
«Torlightning» by Megapolis Exim is a systemic herbicide based on a combination of two imidazolinones: imazamox and imazapyr. The use of two active ingredients with a unified mechanism of action (inhibition of the acetolactate synthase enzyme) allows for maximum control over a wide spectrum of weeds in sunflower crops resistant to this group of herbicides.
Unlike single-component solutions, the synergy between imazamox and imazapyr provides a "double strike": imazamox penetrates leaves rapidly, arresting the growth of sensitive weeds, while imazapyr creates a soil barrier, preventing new flushes of ragweed, pigweed, and other problematic species.
Technical Application Features
- Systemicity and Selectivity: The preparation moves through the xylem and phloem, accumulating in the growth points. Due to its selective nature, the sunflower retains the metabolic capacity to neutralize the herbicide's effect, while target weeds perish.
- Application Regulations: The application rate varies from 1.0 to 2.0 L/ha depending on the weed infestation level. As «Torlightning» is a post-emergence (insurance) herbicide, foliar application allows agronomists to treat crops based on the actual phenological stage of both the crop and the weeds.
- Safety and Handling: The product is classified as Hazard Class 3, requiring standard safety protocols for personnel. However, its formulation as a water-soluble concentrate simplifies the preparation of the working solution and reduces the risk of nozzle clogging in sprayers.
It is critical to note that high efficacy against stubborn weeds such as field thistle, bindweed, or common fumitory is only achieved when adhering strictly to the usage guidelines. Only one treatment per season is permitted. This solution from Megapolis Exim serves as a key technological tool for managing heavily infested fields where conventional weed control methods prove insufficient.

Depending on their ability to move through living tissues, herbicides are divided into contact and systemic. Contact herbicides cause local damage to plant tissue upon contact, which dies or gradually degrades. This action does not always completely destroy the plant; often, its... |
