60TH ANNIVERSARY

60th Anniversary is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) bred by Russian and Kazakhstani breeders, recommended for cultivation in the Northwestern region of Russia, including the Vologda and Tver regions. The variety belongs to the lutescens group, is characterized by mid-season maturity with a vegetative period of 88-98 days and ripening 2-4 days later than the Sudarynya variety. The plant is tall with a semi-erect bush, long straw, and a pyramidal, loose spike of medium density, white in color. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 34 to 45 grams depending on the region and growing conditions.

The variety is distinguished by high yield and resistance to adverse climatic conditions. In the Northwestern region, the average yield is about 33.4 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 49.6 c/ha recorded in the Yaroslavl region. In the Vologda and Tver regions, the yield exceeds the standard of the Sudarynya variety by 4.8-5.4 c/ha. 60th Anniversary possesses resistance to powdery mildew and septoria, moderate resistance to hard head smut, as well as moderate susceptibility to root rots and powdery bunt. In terms of lodging resistance, the variety matches the standard.

The grain quality of the 60th Anniversary variety is high: grain natural density reaches 885 g/l, protein content — 18.7%, raw gluten — 42.0%. The mass of 1000 grains is 42-45 grams under Kazakhstani conditions. Milling qualities are at the level of a good filler, which makes this variety attractive to the baking industry.
