Description
ALBIDUM 33 is a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) steppe ecotype variety developed at the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Krasnokutskaya Experimental Breeding Station of the Southern East Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture». It belongs to medium-early varieties with a vegetation period of 71 to 86 days, depending on growing conditions, and is characterized by medium plant height. The ear is white, medium length (7-9 cm), medium-loose with short awn-like projections, and the grain is elongated-oval, medium size with a mass of 1000 grains ranging from 29 to 44 grams. The grain is distinguished by high vitreousness (about 96.3%) and high natural weight (779-817 g/l), indicating its good quality. The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance and heat tolerance, making it one of the best options for cultivation in arid regions of the Lower Volga, including the left-bank areas of the Volgograd and Saratov regions, as well as the Western zone of the Saratov region. Lodging resistance of the variety is high, which contributes to stable crop formation. Average yield in variety trials reaches 1.34 t/ha, which exceeds the indicators of the standard variety Favorit by 0.3 t/ha. In different years with varying moisture supply, the variety forms well-performed and uniform grain, which increases its commercial value. Bread-making qualities of the variety are good, making it valuable for the production of high-quality flour and bakery products. However, the variety is susceptible to certain diseases, such as hard smut, powdery smut, as well as brown and stem rusts, which requires the implementation of preventive agro-technical measures. In general, ALBIDUM 33 represents a high-yielding and drought-adapted soft spring wheat variety with stable grain quality and yield indicators.
