The winter wheat variety "Askanіyska berehynia" is a product of breeding efforts by the Askanіyska State Agricultural Research Station, aimed at securing stable yields under challenging farming conditions. The primary focus of this variety is comprehensive phytosanitary resistance, which is critical for intensive cultivation technologies.

Phytopathological Barrier

The core engineering challenge addressed by the breeders was creating a multi-layered defense against leaf and stem infections. The variety exhibits high field resistance to several key threats:

• Yellow and Brown Rust: Minimizes the loss of leaf surface area, ensuring efficient photosynthesis.
• Septoria and Powdery Mildew: Allows for a reduction in the number of fungicide applications without compromising crop health.
• Fusarium Head Blight: A critical safety mechanism that prevents the accumulation of mycotoxins in commercial grain.

Operational Performance

The yield potential of 6–7 tons per hectare is achieved through vigorous tillering and efficient soil moisture uptake during the autumn-spring period. The technical value of this variety lies in its ability to maintain spike productivity even under stressful temperature fluctuations, making it a predictable asset for crop rotation in agricultural enterprises across southern and central Ukraine.
