Description
BEZENCHUKSKAYA 205 — a hard spring wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) variety characterized by medium maturity with a vegetative period of 76 to 85 days. This variety ripens simultaneously with Bezenchukskaya 182 and is recommended for cultivation in the Samara, Volgograd, and Orenburg regions. The plants of the variety are erect or semi-erect, the straw is covered with a strong waxy bloom, which contributes to increased resistance to adverse conditions. The ear is cylindrical, loose, and strongly colored, with brown awns that are longer than the ear. The grain is semi-elongated, white in color, and the mass of 1000 grains is 36-42 grams.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and drought resistance, which exceeds the average level, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable climatic conditions. Yields in the Middle Volga region reach an average of 21.5 centners per hectare, which exceeds the standard by 1.2 centners. In the recommended regions, yields vary from 9 to 25 centners per hectare, with an increase over the Bezenchukskaya 182 standard of 1.3 to 3.2 centners. Under field conditions, the variety shows moderate susceptibility to brown rust and is not susceptible to powdery bunt.
The pasta quality of the BEZENCHUKSKAYA 205 variety is assessed as quite satisfactory, which makes it suitable for the production of pasta products. The pedigree of the variety includes lines Valentin and 2025 B-166-39, which confirms its breeding origin and adaptation to the conditions of the Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions. Thanks to the combination of high yield, resistance to stress factors, and grain quality, this variety is promising for cultivation in the specified regions.
