Description
Hard spring wheat of the Bezenchukskaya Niva variety is a mid-season variety with a growing period from 76 to 95 days, ripening 1-2 days later than the Bezenchukskaya Stepnaya variety. The plant is of medium height, with a semi-erect bush and weakly stiffened straw. The ear is cylindrical, medium length and density, white in color with white awns that are longer than the ear. The grain is elongated, light, with a panicle of medium length, the mass of 1000 grains varies from 32 to 45 grams. The waxy coating on the flag leaf blade is medium to strong, and on the neck of the straw, ear, and flag leaf sheath is very strong, which contributes to plant protection.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and drought, which exceed average indicators, making it reliable for cultivation in the Central Steppe zone of the Orenburg region, as well as in the Middle Volga and Urals regions. The yield of the variety is at the level of standards, average yield is about 13.5 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 48.3 c/ha, recorded in the Kurgan region. At the same time, the variety shows an increase over the standard Bezenchukskaya Stepnaya of 1.6 c/ha in the Central Steppe zone.
Bezenchukskaya Niva has good pasta qualities, with protein and gluten content at the level of the Bezenchukskaya 182 variety. Carotenoid content and pasta color exceed this standard by 25-35%, and the SDS-sedimentation index exceeds 40 ml, which corresponds to high requirements of the world market. The variety is moderately resistant to such diseases as hard smut, brown rust and powdery mildew, but under field conditions may be affected by powdery smut.
