Description
Caprizulya is a variety of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), belonging to mid-early and mid-height crops. It is characterized by a vegetative period from 223 to 276 days, plant height of 90-103 cm, and 1000-grain weight within 39-49 g. The ear of the variety is white, awnless, cylindrical, of medium length and density. Caprizulya possesses high resistance to lodging, which contributes to crop preservation and facilitates harvesting. The variety is distinguished by winter hardiness and drought tolerance, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions, as well as the Central, Azov, and Southern zones of the Rostov region.
The Caprizulya variety was created using the method of complex step-by-step hybridization and targeted selection, which ensured high yield and grain quality indicators. Average yield in competitive trials reached 7.98 t/ha, with a maximum value of 10.63 t/ha, exceeding the indicators of the standard Don 107 variety. The grain of the variety belongs to the category of valuable wheat with good and excellent baking qualities. Caprizulya demonstrates resistance to diseases such as bunt and yellow rust, moderate resistance to brown rust and powdery mildew, which reduces the risk of crop losses.
For successful cultivation of the variety, it is recommended to observe optimal sowing dates and sowing rates — 4.5-5.5 million germinable seeds per hectare. Caprizulya responds well to high and medium agro-phosphorus, sowing is allowed after grain corn and sunflower. An important aspect of cultivation is proper crop care, including the use of mineral nutrition and timely fertilization, which helps avoid typical problems of winter wheat such as freezing out, submerging, and wet rot. Thanks to these features, Caprizulya is a reliable choice for obtaining high-quality yields.
