Description
CHELYAB 75 is a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety recommended for cultivation in the Chelyabinsk region and included in the State Register for the Ural region. It is a medium-maturing variety with a vegetation period ranging from 73 to 94 days, ripening simultaneously with the Duet and Novosibirsk 15 varieties. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect bush and a pyramidal ear of medium density, 8–10 cm long. The grain is semi-elongated of medium size, with the mass of 1000 grains varying from 28 to 42 grams, ensuring good grain size and quality. The variety is distinguished by its resistance to lodging, surpassing the standard by up to 1 point on this indicator, and features a strong waxy coating on the upper node of the straw and the sheath of the flag leaf, which contributes to plant protection. The ear is white with short awns, the shoulder is raised and narrow, and the beak is moderately curved and long. The yield of the variety in the Ural region averages 14.9–17.8 centners/hectare, with maximum figures reaching 46.8 centners/hectare in the Kurgan region. The drought resistance of the variety is at the level of the Novosibirsk 15 variety, making it suitable for cultivation in the region's conditions. The bread-making qualities of CHELYAB 75 are evaluated as good, allowing the grain to be used for producing quality flour. The variety is resistant to hard head smut, stem rust, and brown rust, but is susceptible to septoria and highly susceptible to powdery mildew, dusty head smut, and root rots. This requires attention when protecting crops and selecting agronomic measures to maintain plant health and maximize yield.
