Description
CHELYABA ANNIVERSARY is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) belonging to the Eritrospermum subgroup. It is a medium-to-late maturing variety with a vegetation period ranging from 78 to 99 days, maturing simultaneously or slightly later than standard varieties. The plant is medium-height with a semi-upright bush and weakly compacted straw. The ear is pyramidal or cylindrical, of medium density, white in color, with awn-like appendages of medium length. The grain is colored, of medium size, egg-shaped with a shallow groove. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 28 to 42 grams. The variety is characterized by good resistance to lodging and shattering, as well as medium resistance to drought. Waxy coating on the ear and upper internode of the straw varies from weak to strong, on the sheath of the flag leaf - from medium to very strong. The ear arm is narrow, straight or raised, with a slightly curved or moderately curved beak. CHELYABA ANNIVERSARY possesses resistance to a number of diseases, including hard head smut, stem rust, and brown rust, as well as root rots and septoria with a resistance level of 7-8 points. However, the variety is susceptible to powdery bunt, powdery mildew, and some root rot species. Average yield of the variety in recommended areas is about 18-23 centners per hectare, which corresponds to or slightly exceeds the indicators of standard varieties. Maximum yields reached 46.8-56.0 c/ha in favorable years. Baking qualities of the variety are good, at the level of a good filler, which makes it attractive for the production of high-quality flour. Recommended for cultivation in the Northern and Southern forest-steppe and steppe zones of the Chelyabinsk region, as well as in some regions of the Urals and Western Siberia.
