COURIER

Wheat variety 'Courier' is a soft spring wheat of medium maturity with a vegetative period ranging from 76 to 88 days. This variety is characterized by a semi-erect plant and a cylindrical ear of medium density with a white color. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 32 to 43 grams, indicating the large-grained nature of the variety. The straw of 'Courier' is weakly developed, with a strong waxy coating on the ear and upper internode, which contributes to resistance to unfavorable conditions. The variety differs in moderate resistance to powdery mildew and susceptibility to some types of bunt. 'Courier' was bred by Russian breeders of the National Grain Center and recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus, Rostov region, Central zone of Krasnodar Krai, and East Kazakhstan region. It demonstrates good adaptation to arid conditions and resistance to lodging and shedding, ensuring a stable yield reaching an average of 16.4–38.5 centners per hectare depending on the growing region. The 'Courier' variety is valued for its high baking qualities: raw gluten content is about 45.6%, protein is 16.4%, which ensures a bread volume of up to 850 ml and a general quality rating of 3 points. Thanks to these characteristics, wheat is widely used for the production of flour, bread, and other food products, ensuring high quality of the final product and stability of technological processes.
