Description
DALGAU 3 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) bred by individual selection from a hybrid population obtained by crossing the Amurskaya 1495 and Long 4083 (China) varieties. The variety is characterized by a medium-late maturity period and a medium-height or dwarf plant type. The ear is pyramidal, of medium density, white in color; the grain is elongated, white, with a long awn. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 29 to 35 grams. DALGAU 3 has good resistance to shattering and grain sprouting in the ear, which facilitates harvesting and improves crop quality.
The variety demonstrates high yield and good agronomic traits. Average yield in the Far East region reaches 30.6 c/ha, while in competitive variety trials from 2016-2018, the average yield was 5.08 t/ha, with a maximum of 7.09 t/ha in 2016. Compared with standard varieties Amurskaya 1495 and DalGAU 1, DALGAU 3 shows higher productivity. Moreover, the variety has good physical mass, translucent grain, high gluten content, and high protein content, ensuring excellent baking qualities.
DALGAU 3 is moderately resistant to brown rust and loose smut, but susceptible to root rot and powdery mildew. The variety also shows moderate resistance to lodging and drought tolerance. It is recommended for cultivation in the Far East region, including Primorsky Krai and Amur Oblast, as well as in the Middle Volga, Lower Volga, and Ural regions. Thanks to the combination of high yield, resistance to adverse factors, and excellent grain technological characteristics, DALGAU 3 is a promising variety for agricultural production.
