Elegia

Wheat variety Elegia — a high-yielding cereal variety of Ukrainian selection, recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and Polissia zones. The variety is early to mid-maturing, has a strong root system and medium plant height of 90 to 100 cm. Elegia is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, drought, as well as to diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, root rot, septoria, and fusarium, ensuring stable yields and reducing losses under adverse conditions.

The yield potential of this variety reaches 65 centners per hectare, with 1000-grain weight ranging from 44 to 51.5 g, and grain density around 751 g/L. The grain has high quality characteristics: clarity reaches 90%, gluten content — 29%, and protein — 15.7%, making it valuable for processing and bakery production. The variety is of semi-intensive type, allowing cultivation both with and without mineral fertilizers.

For optimal cultivation, the recommended seeding rate is 5–6 million germinating seeds per hectare, with sowing depth of 2–4 cm. The cultivation technology includes pre-sowing soil preparation with harrowing on a shallow tillage and fertilizer application according to the N30P30K30 scheme. Due to its resistance to pests and diseases, as well as adaptability to various agronomic conditions, the Elegia variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality wheat yields.
