ELEMENT 22

Element 22 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) of medium-late type, developed by P.A. Stolypin Omsk State Agrarian University in 2017. It is characterized by high yield and comprehensive drought resistance and resistance to a number of diseases, including powdery mildew, brown rust, and powdery bunt. The vegetation period is 80-97 days, which is 2-3 days later than the Silver variety. The plant is medium-height with a semi-erect bush, cylindrical ears of medium density, and white awns. The grain is colored; the mass of 1000 grains varies from 34 to 41 grams. The variety belongs to the erythrospermum class and is distinguished by a strong waxy bloom on the ear, resistance to lodging, shattering, and germination of grains on the root and in threshing. Element 22 has excellent bread-making qualities at a satisfactory filler level, protein content in the grain exceeds 14%, and gluten content is 25-30%. A feature of the variety is an increased zinc content in the grain - on average 46 mg/kg, which improves the nutritional value of the product. Yield in the Western Siberia region reaches 24.5 c/ha, which is 3.9 c/ha higher than the average standard. With complex fertilization, it is possible to increase the yield to 1 ton per hectare and improve grain quality. To increase productivity and variety resistance during vegetation, it is recommended to use bio-fertilizers and bio-fungicides such as Organit P, Organit N, and Orgamica S. Complex use of these preparations contributes to an increase in yield by 13-19%. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Southern Forest-steppe and Lowland Steppe of Omsk Region, which makes it a promising choice for agrarians seeking to obtain a stable and high-quality yield of soft spring wheat.
