Forest Song

The winter wheat variety 'Forest Song' was developed by crossing RM Belaytservskiy 47 skverhed № 774 with the variety Odessa 162, followed by selection of elite plants. It belongs to the erythrospermum group and is characterized by a semi-spreading bush, average plant height of 83-88 cm, and a pyramidal shape of white awned ears. Grain is large and red, with a 1000-grain weight of 45-49 g. The variety has been included in the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine since 2009 and is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe and Polissia zones.

'Forest Song' is distinguished by high productivity and resistance to adverse factors. It exhibits high winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and resistance to major leaf diseases such as septoria, fusarium of ears, brown rust, and powdery mildew, as well as resistance to lodging, shattering, and root rot. The yield potential of this variety reaches 8.0-9.6 t/ha, making it attractive to farmers aiming for high production levels.

The variety belongs to the medium-maturing group and has a protein content of approximately 14.0%. The recommended seeding rate is 4.5-5.0 million viable seeds per hectare. Due to its qualities and adaptation to climatic conditions of the forest-steppe and Polissia regions, 'Forest Song' is a reliable choice for growing high-yield, disease-resistant winter soft wheat.
