Description
The Franz wheat variety is a high-yielding, new-generation European selection variety that successfully combines high yield with excellent baking qualities. It exhibits high flexibility in sowing dates, recommended from September 15 to October 15, and consistently achieves medium yields in Ukraine at 8.5 t/ha in the Forest Steppe zone and 7.3 t/ha in the Polissia region, with maximum yields up to 11.7 t/ha. The ears are large and well-awned, which contributes to high grain and flour extraction rates, as well as high falling number, confirming the quality of the grain.
Franz exhibits high resistance to stressful conditions, particularly drought and frost, ensuring stable plant development throughout the entire vegetation period. The variety shows high resistance to powdery mildew, rust diseases, and septoria, as well as excellent resistance to lodging and grain germination in the ear. The stems have an elastic structure, further reducing the risk of lodging. Due to its active development at the beginning of the vegetation period and ability to form additional tillers, this variety is recommended for cultivation with growth regulators, especially under intensive technologies.
For optimal development and high yields, the variety is best grown after cereal predecessors, avoiding potato crops. Franz responds well to improved soil agrofactors and irrigation of crops, which helps maximize its potential. Its high tillering coefficient and flexibility to growing conditions make this variety one of the most productive and reliable winter wheat varieties in the A class.
