Odessa Fantasy

Odessa Fantasy — a modern winter soft wheat variety developed at the Selection-Genetic Institute of UAAN and registered in the State Register of Ukraine. This universal-type variety is intended for cultivation in the steppe zone and successfully adapts to various agrofond and preceding crops, including non-traditional crops such as sunflower, rapeseed, mustard, and flax. Due to its complex adaptive traits, Odessa Fantasy demonstrates high resistance to drought, frost, and major fungal diseases, ensuring stable and high yields.

Plants of this variety are characterized by intensive growth and development in the autumn period, as well as the ability to quickly and repeatedly harden, enhancing their resilience when sown late. The vegetation period is approximately 285-287 days, with heading and ripening 1-2 days later than the Antonivka variety. Plants productively tiller, forming 4.2-5.3 stems per plant. The ear is large, 11.3-11.8 cm long, white in color, and pyramidal in shape; the grain is large, red, weighing 43.2-45.8 g per 1000 grains, with good morphometric characteristics. Stems are strong and resistant to lodging and shattering, which contributes to maintaining yield.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to diseases, including brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, septoria, pyrenophora, and fusarium, with resistance ratings ranging from 5 to 8 points. Grain quality is characterized by protein content of 12.5-13.7%, gluten content of 28-33%, and flour strength of 355-395 arbitrary units, making it suitable for various food purposes. Odessa Fantasy demonstrates stable yield performance across different agrotechnical backgrounds and efficiently utilizes low and medium doses of nitrogen fertilizers, making it economically advantageous for cultivation.
