Description
Odessa Manner is characterized by high yield, which in state trials during 2016–2017 averaged 6.1 t/ha in the steppe, 6.6 t/ha in the forest-steppe, and 5.8 t/ha in the forested areas, exceeding standard benchmarks by 1.2–9.8%. Maximum yields reached 10.0 t/ha in the steppe, 11.2 t/ha in the forest-steppe, and 8.0 t/ha in the forested areas, with agronomic trials at the institute reaching up to 12.3 t/ha. The variety exhibits high winter hardiness (8–9 points), drought and heat resistance (8–9 points), as well as good field resistance to major diseases, including fusarium of the ear.
The grain quality of Odessa Manner is also high: flour strength ranges from 350–438 units, gluten content from 26.0–33.8%, and protein content from 13.0–14.8%. These indicators ensure a high bread score — 5 points. The variety is resistant to lodging and shattering, which further enhances its appeal to agricultural producers. Due to its combination of high productivity, resistance to adverse factors, and excellent technological grain characteristics, Odessa Manner is a universal and promising variety for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine.
