Wheat variety 'Olesia' is a domestic winter variety widely cultivated in Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. This variety is characterized by high yield and grain quality, confirmed by successful application on various agribusinesses such as 'Shevchenkovskoye', 'Agro-Dibrovka', and 'Sokilcha'. Due to its reliability and good productivity, variety 'Olesia' is popular among farmers and included in breeding complexes ensuring stable high yields, including foreign selection varieties.
Variety 'Olesia' belongs to the erythrospermum group and is characterized by short stem and ultraprecocity. Plant habit is semi-upright, with absence or very weak pubescence on the upper node. Ear is cylindrical, medium density, 7-9 cm long, with white medium-sized, oval-shaped grains. Waxy coating on various plant parts is weak, and pubescence on lower lemma is minimal. Kernel is colored with shallow groove and medium-length awn.
The variety exhibits high resistance to lodging and shattering, rated 8-9 points, as well as good resistance to major diseases, including root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, with scores of 7-8 points. These characteristics make 'Olesia' adaptable to various climatic conditions and ensure stable yields even under adverse weather conditions.
