Description
Omsk Malachite is a spring hard wheat variety distinguished by its high grain quality and good gluten index, making it particularly valuable for the pasta industry. This variety was introduced by the Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center and has proven itself as a promising agricultural crop with excellent technological properties.
Omsk Malachite wheat is characterized by a medium-maturity vegetation period, which lasts about 304-325 days. Plants reach a height of 77 to 106 cm and possess lodging resistance. The ear is cylindrical, of medium length and density; the grain is elongated and red with a hairy base. The average yield of the variety in the region is about 30.8 cts/ha, which exceeds the average standard by 1.9 cts/ha, while maximum yield indicators reached 62.2 cts/ha.
The variety has satisfactory baking qualities and medium resistance to powdery mildew and septoria. However, it is susceptible to solid glume, brown rust, and snow mold, so pre-sowing seed treatment is recommended for successful cultivation. Omsk Malachite represents a reliable choice for farmers seeking high-quality grain with good technological characteristics.
