Description
OMSKAYA ZOLOTAYA is a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety characterized by a mid-late maturity period and a medium-height plant type. The vegetation period ranges from 76 to 96 days depending on the growing region. The plant has a semi-erect or erect bush, with straw of medium or full thickness and a strong waxy coating on the ear and sheath of the flag leaf. The ear differs in cylindrical or pyramidal shape of medium density, white in color, with short awn-like appendages and a narrow shoulder. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 33 to 39 grams; the grain is colored or white, depending on the variety. The variety is characterized by good drought resistance, exceeding standard indicators, which makes it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Southern Forest-Steppe of the Omsk region and the Lower Volga region, such as the Volgograd and Saratov regions. The yield of the variety in the West Siberian region reaches an average of 22.5 centners/ha, and in the Lower Volga region, about 13.1 centners/ha, which is higher than the average standards. OMSKAYA ZOLOTAYA demonstrates lodging resistance at the level of standard varieties and possesses high flour strength, good porosity, and voluminous bread yield, which confirms its high baking qualities. The variety is susceptible to some diseases, such as powdery mildew and bunt, but is moderately resistant to brown rust and hard smut. Thanks to the combination of high yield, grain quality, and drought resistance, OMSKAYA ZOLOTAYA is a valuable wheat for agricultural production, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield in various regions.
