Poltavchanka

The winter wheat variety Poltavchanka is one of the first varieties with erectoid, or vertical, positioning of the flag leaf and roots, which reduces internal competition among plants. This medium-height variety, with plant height ranging from 76.7 to 92.6 cm, has a medium maturity period — the vegetative period is 272-280 days. Due to its high photoperiodic sensitivity, Poltavchanka does not overgrow in autumn, which contributes to its high winter hardiness and resistance to winter thaws and return frosts. The variety was developed through distant hybridization and multiple selection of elite plants, ensuring its intensive cultivation type and high yield, reaching 83.5-94.6 c/ha according to variety trials. Poltavchanka features a large, stiff ear with high alignment and genetically fixed increased grain number per ear, ensuring stable yield and high grain yield after processing. The plant is upright and dark green, indicating good photosynthetic activity. The seeding rate is 4.0-5.5 million germinating seeds per hectare, which is optimal for achieving maximum productivity. High resistance to lodging (8-9 points) and shattering (8-9 points) makes the variety reliable under various agroclimatic conditions. The variety has excellent immunological protection and resistance to a wide spectrum of diseases and stress factors, including root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, with resistance ratings of 7-8 points. Thanks to these qualities, Poltavchanka is a reliable choice for intensive farming, ensuring high grain quality and excellent baking properties.
