SU VERMILLON

SU VERMILLON — an early-maturing, semi-dwarf winter wheat variety, characterized by low stature and high tiller density, which ensures a high number of ears per square meter. The variety is distinguished by an excellent balance of yield and protein content, reaching approximately 13.5%, as well as high gluten content — 27%. Due to its high efficiency in nitrogen uptake and utilization, SU VERMILLON demonstrates stable yield performance, ranging from 9.4 to 12.1 tons per hectare across various climatic zones.

The variety exhibits high resistance to major wheat diseases, including brown and yellow rust, Fusarium head blight, powdery mildew, and leaf septoria. Additionally, SU VERMILLON is resistant to orange cereal gall midge and shows good tolerance to root rots. The variety’s drought resistance is rated high, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including forest-steppe and meadow-steppe regions. Plant height is approximately 75–80 cm, and thousand-grain weight is 48–52 grams.

Recommended sowing dates and rates vary depending on climatic conditions: optimal sowing is mid-late, with a seeding rate of 3.5 to 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare. The variety exhibits good resistance to lodging and stem breakage, contributing to yield retention during harvest.
