Description
YAKHONT is a hard winter wheat variety (Triticum durum Desf.) designed for high yield and quality grain. It is a medium-early variety with a vegetation period of 217 to 269 days, maturing simultaneously with the standard Donchanka. The plants are of medium height, reaching 70 to 102 cm, with a semi-prostrate bush and pyramidal ears of medium density and length. The stem is weakly to moderately stiff, with pubescence on the upper node ranging from moderate to strong, and varying degrees of wax coating on the ear, stem neck, and leaf blade. The YAKHONT variety is characterized by resistance to lodging and moderate winter hardiness. Drought resistance is similar to the standard Donchanka, allowing successful cultivation in the Azov-Manych and Southern zones of the Rostov region, as well as the North Caucasus region. Average yield in these regions is about 50.6 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching 75.4 c/ha. The grain productivity potential of the variety reaches 11.9 t/ha, making it attractive for agricultural production. YAKHONT has satisfactory pasta-making qualities and moderate resistance to major diseases such as brown and yellow rust, septoria, powdery mildew, and bunt. However, the variety is susceptible to hard bunt. Thanks to its unpretentiousness and disease resistance, YAKHONT is widely used in the agro-industry for flour, bread, and other food products, confirming its high economic value and reliability in cultivation.
