Description
YUNONA — a type of soft winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with a universal type and steppe ecotype, characterized by high plasticity and stable yield under various agro-climatic conditions. The variety has a medium-early or medium-late maturity period with a vegetation period ranging from 228 to 298 days, depending on the growing region. Plants are of medium height (78-96 cm), dwarf or medium-tall, with high resistance to lodging, which ensures crop preservation and facilitates harvesting.
YUNONA grain is oval-shaped, red in color, with a weight of 1000 grains ranging from 34 to 46 grams. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to major wheat diseases such as brown rust, powdery mildew, loose smut, and septoria, which contributes to reduced crop losses and decreased need for frequent fungicide application. Furthermore, the variety exhibits good frost hardiness and is adapted for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus, Central Black Earth, as well as the Polesye, forest-steppe, and steppe zones.
YUNONA demonstrates high yield — average figures reach 45.3-58.2 c/ha, while maximum yields reach up to 91.1 c/ha. The variety is recommended for sowing at a rate of about 5 million viable seeds per hectare. Baking and milling qualities of the grain are good, making YUNONA an attractive choice for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. However, it is strictly not recommended to plant this variety after corn to avoid reduced productivity.
