BURYATSKAYA 79

BURYATSKAYA 79 is a variety of soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) bred by Russian breeders of the National Grain Center. The variety belongs to medium or medium-late maturity, with a vegetation period of 80 to 96 days, allowing it to mature 2-5 days later than the standard Lutescence 937. It is recommended for cultivation in the regions of Eastern Siberia, in particular in the Republic of Buryatia and the Zabaykalsky Krai. The plant is semi-upright, ears are cylindrical, white, with varying degrees of density and awniness, the grain is elongated, red in color with a medium-length awn.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought, which makes it a reliable choice for cultivation in complex climatic conditions. It is also resistant to powdery bunt infection and has moderate resistance to brown and stem rust, as well as septoria. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 35 to 46 grams, which indicates the large-grained nature of the variety. The average yield in the region is about 21-28 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 52 c/ha.

Technological and baking properties of the grain are high: protein content ranges from 10.4 to 16.5%, raw gluten from 23.2 to 39.8%. By quality of baking properties, the variety is characterized as a good filler with satisfactory indicators, which makes it in demand for the production of bakery products. Thanks to its characteristics, BURYATSKAYA 79 is a strong and reliable variety of soft spring wheat adapted to the conditions of Eastern Siberia.
