Wheat variety Kharkivskaya 6 is an ultrar early, awnless variety, developed based on a interspecific hybrid combination involving soft wheat Kharkivskaya 12 and a selection line of hard wheat 89-752. This variety features a medium-early ripening period with a vegetative cycle one day shorter than standard, and medium-height plants ranging from 60 to 90 cm. Kharkivskaya 6 exhibits high resistance to lodging, stem breakage, and shattering, as well as tolerance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria, Fusarium ear blight, and root rots, ensuring stable yields across various climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and meadow regions. The variety demonstrates good agronomic traits: 1000-seed mass is 46–48 g, and seeding rates vary depending on sowing dates — from 3.7 to 5 million seeds per hectare. Average yield reaches 3.51 t/ha. The grain contains a high protein content — approximately 12.5% — as well as gluten — up to 35% — ensuring good pasta properties and high flour strength. Grain nature and other quality parameters meet standard levels, making this variety highly sought after in the food industry. Additionally, wheat Kharkivskaya 6 can be used as a forage crop due to its high protein, B and E vitamin, lysine, and phosphorus content. Grain moisture in this case should not exceed 15%. Although forage wheat is not suitable for direct human consumption, it is an important component of animal feed mixes.
