Description
The Irishka wheat variety belongs to the group of semi-dwarf varieties and is characterized by high resistance to lodging and lack of grain shedding. It is early-maturing, heading and ripening simultaneously with the Batioko variety. The grain kernel has an egg-shaped form and large size. The ear of the variety is awned, white, not hairy, dense and cylindrical, of medium length about 7 cm. The awns are hard, serrated, white, and the glume is wide and oblong with a tooth of medium length, slightly bent back and to the side.
Irishka is distinguished by high milling and baking qualities, which make it valuable for the baking industry. The average yield of the variety for the period 2003-2005 was 103.5 centners/hectare, while the highest yield was achieved in 2005 when grown after winter rapeseed for green manure and amounted to 113.9 centners/hectare. The sowing rate is 4.5-5.0 million viable seeds per hectare.
The variety has high resistance to diseases and unfavorable climatic conditions. It is characterized by high resistance to brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, moderate resistance to septoria and yellow rust. In addition, the variety has low susceptibility to solid bunt and moderate susceptibility to head fusarium. Frost resistance and drought resistance of the variety are above average, which ensures its reliability in various agro-climatic zones.
