Description
KERMEN is a variety of hard winter wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) intended for sowing in agronomic purposes and obtaining high-quality grain. It belongs to medium-ripening varieties with a vegetative period from 244 to 279 days, ripening 1-3 days earlier than the standard Leukurum 21. Kermen wheat is characterized by a high mass of 1000 grains, varying from 38 to 52 grams, which indicates the coarseness and density of the grain. This variety belongs to the durum form and is used primarily for the production of high-quality pasta and grain products.
The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Kalmykia, as well as the Priazovskaya and Southern zones of the Rostov region. Kermen yield differs in stability and high productivity: in the North Caucasus region, the average yield reaches 52.9 c/ha, in the Lower Volga region — 31.4 c/ha, and in the Rostov region, the average yield is 46.6 c/ha with maximum indicators up to 76.4 c/ha.
Kermen wheat has good drought resistance, exceeding the standard Leukurum 21, which makes it suitable for cultivation in conditions with limited moisture. However, the variety is susceptible to some diseases: it is sensitive to brown rust, head fusarium, and especially to stem rust. At the same time, Kermen is resistant to powdery mildew, yellow rust, and head septoria, which ensures additional protection and yield stability with proper care and adherence to agronomic requirements.
