NIKON

Nikon is a soft spring wheat variety (Triticum aestivum L.), developed by FGBUN Samara Federal Research Center of RAS. It belongs to medium-maturing and medium-height plants, possessing good resistance to lodging, powdery and hard head smut, as well as low susceptibility to brown rust and septoria. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 35 to 41 grams, indicating high quality of seed material. The variety is characterized by good baking qualities, high gluten and protein content, making it in demand for the production of quality flour and bakery products.

Nikon is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Volga-Vyatsk, Middle Volga, Ural, and West Siberian regions. In particular, it is suitable for growing in Kirov, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg, Kemerovo, and Tomsk regions, Perm and Altai krais, as well as in the Republic of Tatarstan. The yield of the variety varies depending on the region and growing conditions, reaching from 17.0 to 75.3 centners per hectare. Average yield indicators are 37.1 c/ha in the Volga-Vyatsk region, 29.0 c/ha in the Middle Volga, 17.0 c/ha in the Ural, and 36.0 c/ha in the West Siberian.
