Description
Niva 55 is a variety of soft spring wheat characterized by a medium-early maturity period and high adaptability to various climatic conditions. The plant is tall, with an upright bush and medium straw length, resistant to lodging. The ear is pyramid-shaped with medium density, white in color, featuring short awn-like appendages and colored kernels. The vegetation period is 76-88 days, which is slightly later compared to some standard varieties; however, the variety is distinguished by enhanced drought resistance and high yield—reaching 33.5 c/ha in the West Siberian region, exceeding the average standard by 2.4 c/ha. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 35 to 44 grams.
The variety possesses excellent baking qualities, making it valuable for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. Under field conditions, Niva 55 demonstrates resistance to major diseases, including brown and stem rust, as well as loose smut, which contributes to yield stability and reduced losses. The waxy coating on the ear and flag leaf provides additional plant protection from adverse factors.
Due to its versatility and high productivity, Niva 55 is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Ural and West Siberian regions of Russia, as well as the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine. The variety responds well to fertilizer application and is suitable for cultivation on non-fallow predecessors. Its high adaptability to arid conditions and resistance to climate change make Niva 55 a reliable choice for agrarians seeking a stable and quality wheat harvest.
