Description
OMSK CORAL is a hard spring wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) variety intended for the production of high-quality pasta and cereal products. It is a mid-maturing variety with a vegetation period ranging from 76 to 92 days, depending on the growing region. The plant features a semi-upright bush and medium or long stems with a strong waxy bloom on the flag leaf blade, ear, and stem neck. The ear is pyramidal, of medium or short length, of medium density or dense, featuring an elongated light or white grain and a characteristic awn of varying length. The variety exhibits good adaptability and resistance to several diseases, including brown and stem rust, as well as UG 99. It is moderately resistant to powdery scab and septoria, but susceptible to glume blotch, powdery mildew, and root rots. Under field conditions, weak infection by Fusarium of the ear is noted. In terms of lodging and drought resistance, the variety is comparable to known analogues such as Omsk Korund and Yasenka, ensuring crop stability under various climatic conditions. Yield varies by region: in the West Siberian region, the average yield is about 29.3 c/ha with a maximum recorded of 62.0 c/ha; in Krasnodar Krai, the average yield reaches 14.0 c/ha with a maximum of 33.6 c/ha. The potential yield according to the originator data exceeds 70 c/ha. The weight of 1000 grains ranges from 33 to 45 grams. Due to its high pasta qualities and stable productivity, the variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Kemerovo region, West Siberian region, and Krasnodar Krai.
